Welcome to 20Camels! I have been passionate about Travel & Culture since I was a 9 year-old girl asking my mom why we lived in snowy, cold Minnesota instead of warm and glamorous California. In the 13 years that have passed since then, I have successfully escaped my small town, traveled to many countries with cultures extremely different from my own, learned 5 languages, and challenged the way I see the world many times over.

From Minnesota to Anywhere

I have always been an adventurous spirit. When I graduated high school, I decided to go to college in California: a place where I had no family, no friends, and a culture that seemed worlds away from the one I had grown up with. I wanted more for myself, though. At the time I wanted to live in California and I was willing to go through the culture shock and distance from the familiar to achieve that goal.

Little did I know that would be the beginning of my travel journey.

I studied Chemical Engineering in college… Which may surprise some of you! Yes, I’m taking a drastically different path with my degree. Throughout college I met people from all around the world, and getting to know them gave me curiosity about what else might be out there to explore. I owe the discovery of my passion for travel & culture, though, to the experiences I had and the people I met during my education, which is what college is all about.

When I got the opportunity to leave the U.S. on my first long-term trip (3 months) abroad, it was yet another big adventure. I was doing an internship at a prestigious Science & Engineering lab, but what really fascinated me and made the trip unforgettable was the complexity of the culture, the politics, the food, the landscape, the language, and the people that I dove into over those three months.

I had some of the most incredible experiences of my life during that internship, and it got me thinking: maybe this engineering thing isn’t really for me. It seems like I have a lot of interest in something else.

And so the seed was planted.

Now, 3 years after that internship, I am a Digital Nomad with a Chemical Engineering degree who speaks 5 languages and lives wherever she wants.

Embrace WFA (Work From Anywhere)

After COVID-19, the world will never be the same again. Where the concept of “Remote Work” was foreign to many of us before, now we’ve all been exposed to it and many of our jobs have converted to be partially (if not entirely) remote.

That begs the question: If you could Work From Anywhere, why would you WFH?

Why not make “home” the Maldives for 3 months? Or live a #laptoplifestyle overlooking a beach in Bali?

I would like to help you do that. Being someone who has a lot of experience traveling for long periods of time in different countries, I’ve learned a thing or two about how to travel & work in a foreign place.

I like to refer to myself as a Cultural Chameleon. When I move to a new place, I find it easy to integrate myself into the new culture, start making friends, and have unique experiences that have been unforgettable for me. I have a superpower where I can figure out the secret recipe to feeling like an insider in any place I’ve never visited before.
